Give ’em time!

Former long-serving manager Danny Wilson is urging football club owners to show patience to young bosses trying to make their way in the game.

Wilson won promotion to the Premier League with Barnsley in 1996-97 and went on to manage more than 1,000 games, but he can’t see many bosses repeating that feat.

“In the early part of my career, I had a bit more time,” said Wilson, who stepped out of the dugout for the last time almost six years ago.

“Nowadays if you lose three or four games, you’re getting sacked!

“There’s a lack of understanding from some owners of what it takes. They are chasing the dream and they want to be top of the league – everyone wants the success but everyone can’t have it.”
