Delighted Burnley boss Vincent Kompany saluted his troops as Burnley hammered Swansea to go top of the table.

Goals from Vitinho, Anass Zaroury and a Jay Rodriguez double did the damage before Joel Piroe’s 74th-minute red card left the visitors a man light.

The result saw the Clarets go top, ahead of the evening clash between Watford and Norwich.

“It was a performance filled with energy,” said the Belgian. “What is important to me is to give the fans something to be happy about, and I think we did that today.”

There were four sendings off as Sheffield United drew 3-3 in a thriller against Blackpool.
