NEW Stevenage boss Steve Evans thought chairman Phil Wallace was on the wind-up when he told him the Boro squad was ravaged by Covid-19.
Evans, 59, took charge last week following the dismissal of Paul Tisdale, only for his first game to be postponed as the virus wreaked havoc.
It was a nasty case of deja vu for the Scot, who spent the winter fielding youngsters and half-fit players in his previous job at Gillingham.
