BRITT Assombalonga was signed to help Middlesbrough “smash” the Championship following relegation from the Premier League in 2017.
Signed from Nottingham Forest for a shade over £15m, the Congolese striker became the second-most expensive player in Championship history, eclipsed only by Wolves’ Ruben Neves.
Yet four years on, Boro have smashed nothing. And Assombalonga, now 28, has been told to find a new club.
