REBECCA SET TO MAKE EFL HISTORY

A LITTLE slice of history will be made tomorrow as referee Rebecca Welch takes charge of the League Two match between Harrogate Town and Port Vale.
The 37-year-old from Tyne and Wear becomes the first female referee to be appointed by the EFL.
In 2010, Amy Fearn refereed the final 20 minutes of Coventry against Nottingham Forest following an injury, but Welch is the first woman to be appointed to a game.
Welch, the FA’s highest ranking female referee, has officiated a number of high profile women’s games, including the 2017 FA Cup final and internationals.
