WILLIAMS DEAL LIFTS BIG MICK

CHAMPIONSHIP
CARDIFF boss Mick McCarthy hailed the signing of Wales midfielder Jonny Williams as “one of the best deals of the transfer window”.
The 27-year-old, who previously played under McCarthy during a loan spell at Ipswich, joined this week from Charlton.
Williams’ Addicks deal was due to expire this summer, allowing Cardiff to negotiate a lower fee for his services.
McCarthy said: “I think it is one of the best deals of the transfer window.
“If he can play to his ability, then he’ll rip it up here.”
