IN TERMS of experience, the EFL could hardly have plumped for anyone better than Trevor Birch to be their new chief executive – and he’s going to need to draw on all the knowledge he’s picked up over the years in his new role.
A former Shrewsbury and Chester player, he became a chartered accountant before moving into football administration as chief executive of Chelsea, leading the sale of the Blues to Roman Abramovich in 2003.
