I MENTIONED in my last column a month ago that it was make-or-break time at Derby and it was no great surprise that boss Phillip Cocu was sacked shortly afterwards.
It was, however, a surprise to see a fourman coaching staff put in place, though the fact that didn’t work didn’t shock me at all.
It took me back to when I was player-coach at Portsmouth and the club sacked manager Guy Whittingham.
