WAYNE Rooney, it’s fair to say, is not a popular figure amongst Derby fans. Not for anything he has done. More for what he hasn’t.
After five months on the sidelines following his arrival from the MLS, Rooney’s middling displays in the second half of last season could justifiably be attributed to ring rust.
Now, his inability to move at pace or consistently affect games looks rather more like a symptom of 18 tough years on the grass.
Rooney, of course, cannot be blamed for his age. Yet his enduring presence in a midfield so obviously lacking dynamism has caused frustr...
