CHAMPIONSHIP toilers Derby County parted company with manager Phillip Cocu last night – and paved the way for player-coach Wayne Rooney to take the reins.
A disastrous start to the season, with just one win from their opening 11 matches, had left the Rams bottom of the table heading into the international break, and with Dutchman Cocu under severe pressure.
