IT SAYS everything about the excellence of Ben White that the Leeds United centre-back is a genuine contender for player of the year. Maybe I’m biased, but I’ve always thought defenders never get enough credit in the Championship.
It’s always the strikers and midfielders who get the plaudits. I can’t remember the last time a defender won an end-of-season award, so for Ben to be in contention means he must be exceptional.
