AFTER Rochdale battled to a gutsy draw against Newcastle last weekend, the spotlight rightly fell on teenage right-back Luke Matheson.
The 17-year-old was sensational, stepping off the bench after just 30 minutes to almost single handedly stop a previously rampant Newcastle in their tracks.
He was later described as a “get out of trouble player” by his manager Brian Barry-Murphy, which is an incredible thing to say about a boy barely out of school.
