PATRICK Bamford doesn’t score enough goals. But to focus on his one failing is to ignore his considerable strengths.
Like many others, I have frequently fallen into this trap. It is easy to get bewitched by Eddie Nketiah’s fleet feet and view him a more worthy starter. Just as it was easy to rate the departed Kemar Roofe a superior player based on his goals return and play between the lines.
Their skills were obvious.
Bamford’s are not, but they are invaluable to Marcelo Bielsa. Because it is Bamford who leads the famous press.
