HAD Chris Hughton not spurned the advances of Stoke in September, Nathan Jones would have been sacked a month ago.
Potters owner Peter Coates lost patience following a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in September, but was adamant that Jones - despite a dismal record - would not be fired without a successor lined up.
