GLYN Hodges ensured his fairytale return to Wimbledon came true as he was unveiled as the man to step into Wally Downes’ shoes.
The 56-year-old had been acting as caretaker since Downes was removed from his post for breaching gambling regulations but Hodges’ history with the club dates back more than 40 years having spent his early playing day at the club.
“It was something I couldn’t turn down so I am absolutely delighted and can’t wait to get started,” said Hodges, who had been assistant to Downes.
