ONCE GUTTED but now grateful, Ben Thompson knows just how important last season’s loan to Portsmouth really was.
A Millwall fan as well as midfielder for the club, the 23-year-old was devastated when told he would be shipped off to Fratton Park on loan 12 months ago.
But having spent six positive months in League One before returning in January, Thompson believes he came back a better player in what was his first move away from The Den in professional football.
