JED Steer was resigned to the fact that it was over for him at Aston Villa.
He went to keep goal for Charlton on a year’s loan eight months ago and, in his mind, life for him was going to be in League One.
Instead Steer is now part of a record-making Villa team that have hurtled themselves into the Championship playoff positions.
