ASTON Villa manager Dean Smith paid tribute to Brentford fans for the welcome he received before kick-off on his return to Griffin Park in midweek.
The 47-year-old left the Bees for Villa in October after a successful spell with the Londoners.
He was given a warm reception by home fans, who saw their side snatch a 1-0 win, and Smith said: “It was good. They gave me a warm round of applause.
“I had three wonderful years here. They’re top people, everybody who works for the club and the supporters as well.
