Let’s be clear, though - the Peterborough director of football has done nothing morally wrong. Fry’s ‘crime’ was to place a bet on Jack Marriott, a Posh player, to finish as the top scorer in League One last season.
He also took a punt on Peterborough winning promotion. Both were positive outcomes that Fry could not materially influence anyway.
