SHOULD heading be banned for Under-18s? Yes. The vast majority of those kids will never play professional football, making it senseless to even risk brain damag e.
At the elite level, it is a trickier issue.
Banning heading would ef fectively outlaw rebounds, crosses and the majority of aerial play.
In theory, everybody would play like Barcelona. In all likelihood, a g ame already stilted by VAR would be pitted anew with stoppages and free-kicks.
Lose football’s flow and fluidity – which you certainly would – and its universal appeal is gone too.
