RAY WAS ALWAYS A HERO TO ME

I WAS extremely sad to hear that Ray Wilkins had passed away this week.
Playing in the great QPR team of the early 90s, Ray was one of my first footballing heroes.
He was the most twofooted player I’d ever seen, an artist when stroking a football around a pitch. His relationship with Les Ferdinand was almost telepathic at a time when Rangers were challenging in the top half of the Premier League.
I must have been about 11 when I spotted Ray in the street near my home in south-west London.
