SUNDERLAND misfit Jack Rodwell is going back to the future in a bid to rescue his career.
The former Manchester City, Everton and England midfielder, 26, is being encouraged by Black Cats boss Simon Grayson in his attempt to reinvent himself as a centre-back.
Rodwell, who has badly lacked form and fitness since joining Sunderland from City in a £10million move three years ago, has recently played in central defence in Under-23 games against Doncaster and Hertha Berlin.
