JAKE Cooper is ready to grasp his opportunity to play in the heart of the Millwall defence but laments that it comes at the expense of friend Byron Webster.
Webster, 30, has undergone surgery after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament and will miss the remainder of the season, with Cooper likely to act as his long-term replacement.
The 22-year-old, a summer signing from Reading, would rather have stepped up in more positive circumstances but is determined to prove his worth nonetheless.
