MR NICE GUY ADY NOT CUT OUT TO BE BOSS

OUT: Ady Pennock

I WAS very surprised when Gillingham offered Ady Pennock the managers’ job. By the same token, I’m not surprised to see him sacked.
Don’t get me wrong. Ady is a really nice guy and a very good coach. But his track record as a manager doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
At Forest Green, he had the biggest budget in the National League – and I don’t mean by a bit. I mean by a million miles.
They had players on three grand a week. He had to win the league. Promotion through the play-offs was a bare minimum. He didn’t do either.
