Sutton United host Stockport County in Saturday’s match at the VBS Community Stadium looking to bounce back from defeat last time out in League Two.

The Us, who sit 22nd in the league after 42 games, fell to a 1-3 home defeat to Swindon Town on Monday.

They face a Stockport side who picked up a win in their last match, a 1-0 victory against AFC Wimbledon, and who sit first in the table.

With 79 goals in 40 games so far this season, Stockport are the league’s joint-second-highest scorers with 2.0 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 40 goals at a rate of 1.0 per game.

Sutton, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.7 goals per game.

In Ben Hinchiffe, County can rely on one of the league’s safest pair of hands. He has kept 16 clean sheets in his 40 appearances this season, and no ‘keeper has prevented the opposition scoring more often in League Two.

In United’s net, Dean Anthony Bouzanis has two clean sheets in 25 games. He has conceded a goal every 55 minutes, 70% more often than the 95 minutes between goals for Hinchiffe.

In the last 10 years, Sutton and Stockport have played each other on seven occasions. Sutton won one of them, Stockport three, and they drew three times.

On average, the Us scored 0.4 goals and the Hatters 1.9 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on December 16, when Stockport won 8-0 at home.

The Us are in good form in League Two, with four wins and a draw from their last six games.

With four wins and two draws over that period, the Hatters’ form is slightly better – they have taken 14 points from 18, compared to the hosts’ 13.
