Saturday’s match at Blundell Park sees two relegation candidates play each other, as 22nd-ranked Grimsby Town host 23rd-placed Forest Green Rovers.

Grimsby have picked up 30 points from their first 30 League Two games, with six wins and 12 draws.

That is three points more than the Green have collected, having won six and drawn nine.

Grimsby are in bad form in League Two, with no wins and three draws from their last six games.

With two wins and two draws over that period, Forest Green’s form is better – they have taken eight points from 18, compared to Town’s three.

In the last 10 years, Grimsby and Forest Green have played each other on 15 occasions. Grimsby won five of them, Forest Green seven, and they drew three times.

On average, the Mariners scored 1.3 goals and the Green 1.5 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 18, when they played out a 2-2 draw.

With 34 goals in 34 games so far this season, Rovers are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 1.0 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 61 goals at a rate of 1.8 per game.

The Mariners are also below average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.9 goals per game.

Grimsby’s last match was on February 24, a 1-1 draw against Morecambe, with Danny Rose getting the goal for the Mariners.

Forest Green drew 1-1 with Wrexham last time out, on Tuesday, with Emmanuel Osadebe on the scoresheet.
