Steve’s Boro can upset a few this season

DEMANDING: Steve Evans

It’s always interesting to have a look at the bookies’ odds for the season – they don’t tend to get a lot wrong, do they?

One thing that stood out for was the long odds – as high as 50-1 – on Stevenage in League Two.

True, Boro have had some tough times of late and had to fight for their EFL lives, but I don’t think boss Steve Evans will stand for that this time around.

Having taken the reins in March, the former Leeds and Peterborough boss had chance to assess his squad and then made wholesale changes over the summer.

In have come battle hardened players like defender Carl Piergianni, midfielder Michael Bostwick – who had a loan spell with Boro last season – and striker Danny Rose.

Evans did quite a bit of early shopping and that should have given him time to get his new-look squad in shape for the season.

No-one’s saying they are going to win League Two, but the smart money would be on them not being among the alsorans.
