Nartey loving life at Ammies

EAGER: Richard Nartey

Defender Richard Nartey is relishing his new opportunity at Salford City after signing a one-year deal.

The 23-year-old was released by Burnley in the summer after spending part of last season on loan at Mansfield Town.

His career started at Chelsea, during which time he had a loan spell at Burton Albion.

The Hammersmith-born defender said: “I’m really happy to just get it over the line.

“After the first couple of days I knew that I wanted to be here.

“As soon as I came here, met the lads, the philosophy and how the gaffer (Neil Wood) wants us to play, I think it just suited how I’ve grown up.

“I feel motivated that we can push and do really well this season.

“I’m comfortable on the ball, that’s something that I spoke to the gaffer about a lot.

“I’m just wanting to play my game, be on the ball, but also hopefully, as the fans saw against Rotherham, I can do a bit of the defensive side as well, as any defender needs to do.”
