Defender steps up to fresh challenge

HE MAY have swapped Scotland’s top-flight for English football’s basement, but goalscoring defender Jon Guthrie is loving life with Northampton Town.
The towering 29-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Cobblers in the summer and wants to play his part in helping them bounce straight back to League One.
Northampton are one of the favourites to go up, having started the season in fine form. Eight wins from 15 games put Jon Brady’s men third in the table heading into yesterday’s trip to Bristol Rovers.
