COLCHESTER boss Hayden Mullins has turned to young Newcastle goalkeeper Jake Turner to bolster his options between the sticks.
The 22-year-old, who spent a spell on loan with Morecambe during the first half of last season, has penned a similar deal with the U’s and Mullins says his arrival will boost competition for places, especially with veteran Dean Gerken struggling with a groin problem.
“He fits in to what we’re trying to do,” said Mullins. “It’s more competition and a little bit more cover.”
