Millenic Alli snatches point for Exeter with last-gasp equaliser at Peterborough

Millenic Alli Exeter

Millenic Alli scored the rebound of his saved penalty to salvage a late 1-1 draw for Exeter at Peterborough to extend the home side’s winless run in Sky Bet League One.

Hector Kyprianou’s opener looked to have given Posh their first league victory in seven Sky Bet League One games, only for Alli to deny them in the first minute of stoppage time.

Peterborough came within a whisker of taking the lead after 30 minutes when Ryan de Havilland’s shot from Ricky-Jade Jones’ pull-back thudded against a post.

Posh made the breakthrough in the 34th minute via a classy move as De Havilland and Malik Mothersille combined to play in captain Kyprianou, who finished deftly beyond Joe Whitworth.

The hosts almost added a second after 79 minutes when Whitworth saved from Mothersille before Ben Purrington cleared Gustav Lindgren’s rebound off the line.

That let-off for Exeter proved crucial as they were awarded a late penalty when Tayo Edun felled Demetri Mitchell and although Nicholas Bilokapic saved Alli’s spot-kick, the taker gratefully tucked in the rebound.
