Peterborough United host Northampton Town on Tuesday at the Weston Homes Stadium in League One.
In their last league match, on Saturday, Peterborough beat Exeter City 2-1 at home, with goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Kwame Poku.
Northampton drew, 1-1 at home against Charlton Athletic, with Louis Appere scoring their goals.
With 63 goals in 34 games so far this season, Peterborough are the league’s joint-second-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 42 goals at a rate of 1.2 per game.
Northampton are also above average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.
In the last 10 years, Peterborough and Northampton have played each other on nine occasions. Peterborough won seven of them, Northampton one, and they drew once.
On average, the Posh scored 2.0 goals and the Cobblers 0.4 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on August 19, when Northampton won 1-0 at home.
United are fifth in the table after 34 games, of which they have won 18 and drawn eight, earning 62 points.
Town are eight places behind the Posh in 13th, with 14 wins and seven draws putting them on 49 points.
The home side’s Harrison Burrows is among the league’s most creative players, racking up 10 assists in 34 appearances so far this season, and holding second spot in League One’s assist charts.
For the Cobblers, Mitchell Pinnock has set up the most goals, having laid on seven assists in 35 games.
Peterborough are in disappointing form in League One, with two wins and four losses from their last six games.
With two wins and three draws over that period, the visitors’ form is better – they have taken nine points from 18, compared to Peterborough’s six.
Tuesday’s match will be refereed by Craig Hicks, who has taken charge of nine League One games so far this season, issuing three red cards and booking 28 players. He has awarded two penalties.
The last Northampton game Hicks refereed was the 2-1 win at home against Oxford United on December 23. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Peterborough this season.
