Derby County host Charlton Athletic in Tuesday’s late match at Pride Park Stadium looking to bounce back from defeat last time out in League One.
The Rams, who sit second in the league after 34 games, fell to a 2-1 away defeat to Barnsley on Saturday.
They face a Charlton side who secured a draw in their last match, a 0-0 tie with Portsmouth, and who sit 20th in the table.
With 59 goals in 34 games so far this season, Derby are scoring more than average in the league with 1.7 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 31 goals at a rate of 0.9 per game.
Charlton are also above average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.
In the last 10 years, Derby and Charlton have played each other on 11 occasions. Derby won seven of them, Charlton three, and they drew once.
On average, the Rams scored 1.4 goals and the Addicks 0.8 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on February 3, when Derby won 1-0 away.
In Alfie May, Athletic have one of the league’s most on-form strikers so far this season. He has notched 16 goals in 31 appearances, to sit third in the scoring charts.
His goal rate of one every 165 minutes is slightly quicker than that of James Collins, County’s top scorer with a goal every 173 minutes, and a total of 13 goals in 32 games.
The Rams are in good form in League One, with four wins and a draw from their last six games.
With no wins and four draws over that period, the Addicks’ form is much worse – they have taken four points from 18, compared to the home team’s 13.
Tuesday’s match will be refereed by Jeremy Simpson, who has taken charge of five League One games so far this season, issuing two red cards and booking 33 players. He has not awarded any penalties.
He is yet to oversee a match featuring either Derby or Charlton this season.
