Struggling Cheltenham Town face Wigan Athletic away at the DW Stadium on Friday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.

After securing all three points with a 3-2 victory over Port Vale on February 17, the Robins sit 21st in League One.

They travel to play a Wigan side ninth in the standings, who also won their last match, 1-0 against Shrewsbury Town.

With 27 goals in 31 games so far this season, Cheltenham are scoring at below the league average rate with 0.9 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 42 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Wigan, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.3 goals per game.

In the last three years, Wigan and Cheltenham have played each other on three occasions. Wigan won one of them and they drew the other.

Their last meeting was on November 11, when they played out a 1-1 draw.

Athletic are in mixed form in League One, with three wins and three losses from their last six games.

And also with three wins and three losses over that period, Town’s form is identical – they have both taken nine points from 18.
