Is it right time for a new look at Trophy?

After I watched Portsmouth ease past Stevenage 3-0 in the EFL Trophy last 16 last Tuesday night, I couldn’t help but think that the competition may need a shake up.
For on that same night, Premier League academy involvement in the competition came to an end for another year.
Bolton and Cheltenham enjoyed 4-0 wins against Manchester United U21s and Chelsea U21s respectively, while Lincoln ran out 4-2 victors against Everton U21s.
The fact none of the 16 invited sides reached the quarter finals does raise question marks about the validity...
