DEFOE HAS FAITH IN THE CATS

JERMAIN Defoe is convinced Sunderland have what it takes to secure promotion.
The 39-year-old announced his retirement this week having signed a short-term deal with the Black Cats in January.
Defoe scored 37 goals in 93 appearances during his first spell at Sunderland between 2015 and 2017 and thanked the club for bringing him back.
He said: “Returning to the Stadium of Light was special.
“There is so much potential within the squad and I believe that the boys will go on to earn promotion.”
