XHEMAJLI DELIGHT AT RETURN

SUNDERLAND defender Arbenit Xhemajli was pleased to be back in action after a year on the sidelines, but warned: “I think I need another three or four months to get to where I was before my injury.”
The 23-year-old defender arrived from Swiss side Neuchatel Xamax in September 2020, but managed just one EFL Trophy outing four days later before suffering a knee injury while with Kosovo.
Xhemajli made his long-awaited return in the same competition this week, and added:
“It was just exciting to be back on the pitch.”
