CHRIS Powell played down his part in Southend history after guiding the Shrimpers to a shock win against League One leaders Wigan, whose boss Paul Cook called it their worst performance of the season.
The victory at Roots Hall made Powell the first permanent Southend manager to win his first three games in charge of the club.
But beating the Latics – who had gone 16 matches unbeaten before facing Southend – meant far more to Powell.
