Match Preview: Rotherham United v Watford (Saturday, 3pm)

Watford are strong favourites to take all three points despite Rotherham United’s home advantage in Saturday’s match at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Betting companies* are offering odds of 1.88 on Watford sealing the win, with the visitors sitting 12th in the Championship table.

Rotherham, who are 24th in the league and 22 points behind the Hornets, are priced at 4.3 to win. A draw is set at 3.5.

Rotherham are in terrible form in the Championship, with no wins and two draws from their last six games.

With a win and two draws over that period, Watford’s form is better – they have taken five points from 18, compared to United’s two.

In the last 10 years, Rotherham and Watford have played each other on seven occasions. Watford won five of them and they drew twice.

On average, the Millers scored 0.4 goals and the Hornets 2.6 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on November 11, when Watford won 5-0 at home.

With 26 goals in 31 games so far this season, the Millers are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 0.8 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 59 goals at a rate of 1.9 per game.

The Hornets, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.4 goals per game.

Rotherham’s last match was on Tuesday, a 2-1 loss against Hull City, with Christ Junior Tiu00e9hi getting the goal for the Millers.

Watford lost 4-2 against Norwich City last time out, also on Tuesday, with Mileta Rajovic and Yaser Asprilla on the scoresheet.
