MATT Clarke may be young but there is no-one more suited to captaining Portsmouth, according to team-mate Ben Close.
With 30-year-old striker Brett Pitman and 29-year-old midfielder Gareth Evans injured, and 27-year-old defender Nathan Thompson suspended, Clarke was chosen to skipper the side for the 2-1 midweek victory at Fleetwood.
The defender was expected to retain the honour for yesterday’s clash with Blackpool, despite being just 21 years old.
