YESTERDAY, I took my Under- 10s to Craven Cottage, where Fulham were doing a discount scheme. It was £1-a-head for the kids, £73 for our party of five adults, 13 children. Quite a bargain.
This is one of many such initiatives by clubs who realise an empty seat at a match is as wasteful as one on a plane.
Fulham obviously made cash on drinks and snacks – and might even gain new fans – but most important was that the boys experienced the thrill of a live match and will want to go again.
