VETERAN FORWARD NAHKI HAS STILL GOT A LOT TO OFFER

LP_0903_MAIN_LPE1_001

NAHKI Wells isn’t always the first name on Bristol City’s teamsheet, but the 34-year-old is the sort of player who never lets anyone down.

Is he Premier League quality? Probably not.

Is he the fastest or the strongest striker in the division? No.

But like a lot of forwards that I played with in their 30s, he understands the position inside out and compensates with really clever movement in the final third.

His goal in the Robins’ 2-1midweek win over West Brom means he has now hit double figures in seven of his ten full Championship seasons.

That’s an incredible level of consistency for anyone, and to still be doing it at his age is testament to his ability and attitude.

I’ve said many times that there’s nothing wrong with being good at a particular level.

Whether that’s the National League or the Championship, you’re still a pro and you’re getting paid to play football.

Wells is a solid Championship striker who is as honest as the day is long and I’ve got nothing but praise for what he’s doing.
