Daniel Farke’s Leeds move closer as Blades blunder

Leeds United took a giant stride towards the Premier League by beating Preston North End at a pulsating Elland Road – and now boss Daniel Farke wants them to finish the job.

Goals from Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle, either side of Kaine Kesler-Hayden’s dazzling leveller, earned the Whites a vital 2- 1 victory.

However, with Sheffield United falling to a late 2-1 defeat at basement side Plymouth Argyle, it means the Whites – and second-placed Burnley – have a five-point advantage over the Blades with just four games left.

Afterwards, the German boss praised the mentality of his side but urged them to keep it up until the end of the season.

Stay cool

“It is a priceless three points for us,” admitted Farke.

“I didn’t know the scoreline at Plymouth, but I could sense the reaction from our supporters.

“But I also wanted to make sure we didn’t get overexcited or start thinking about what was happening on a pitch somewhere else.”

He added: “If you want to win titles and win promotion, you have to have a special mentality.

“Where you play with fire in the heart, stay cool in the head and don’t crack under pressure.

“We showed that mentality today and now we need to show it in the next four game days because nothing is done yet.”
