Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl says he trusts owner Dejphon Chansiri to pay his players’ overdue wages.

It was revealed this week that several members of the Owls squad had not been paid in full for March due to what were described as “cashflow issues” affecting Chansiri’s businesses in Thailand.

In a statement, the club said: “Sheffield Wednesday can confirm a temporary issue with the payment of player salaries for the month of March.

“This has occurred as a result of significant sums of money owed to the chairman’s businesses which has in turn impacted on the club’s immediate cashflow.

Solution

“The chairman is working hard to resolve this situation at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Rohl is hoping for a speedy solution.

“I think it’s a poor situation, but what’s important is that we solve this problem, and then we can carry on,” said the German, whose side began the weekend five points off the play-off positions.

“It could be today, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, but I trust the club.

“I trust they will try to solve this.”
