Danny Rohl has praised the remarkable character of his Sheffield Wednesday players after it was revealed earlier this week that the team had not received their wages for March.

The action on the pitch were equally miserable as Wednesday were defeated 1-0 by their Yorkshire rivals Hull City.

Charlie Hughes netted the only goal for the game as the visitors clinched the three points.

But for Owls boss Rohl, the focus remained on hailing the mentality and efforts of his squad with all that is going on off the pitch.

ATTITUDE: Rohl

Proud

He said: “I think we should speak about my group today.

“I’m very proud of the team.

“For me, the character of this group is outstanding since I arrived here, with all the setbacks we’ve had.

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve seen a team who never complain about anything off the pitch.

“They go again and again and again.

“We always focus on our performance, and for me, it’s outstanding.

“I will never forget these players.

“Players with passion, with character, with the right attitude is incredible to see.”

On the threat of a three-window transfer embargo, Rohl said: “I cannot answer too much on this topic, it’s not my topic, I’m the wrong person to speak about this.

“Hopefully, we can solve this problem, I think this is very important for the club.”

Responding to speculation about interest from other clubs, Rohl commented: “At the moment, it’s not the time to speak about my future.

“The club knows my thoughts; they know where we are, what I want to do in the future, and that is the most important thing.”

Wednesday are now without a home victory since New Year’s Day.
