STAR MAN

SHAUN ROONEY Fleetwood Town

DELIGHTED Pete Wild called on his Fleetwood side to replicate this wining performance going forward.

MK Dons opened the scoring through Danilo Orsi, but the game changed when Matty Virtue and James Bolton scored either side of half-time to put Fleetwood in

front. Louis Marsh and Owen Devonport scored to give Fleetwood a commanding lead, although Scott Hogan scored a late

more victories. He said: “The best part about football week in, week out is winning football matches. We talked about it in the hotel this morning that winning away from home, there aren’t too many better feelings.

“To do it in that man-ner was fantastic. I thought we did that so well after going behind.

“My challenge to the players now is that they’ve got to keep pushing and have that winning feeling again.”

MK Dons missed the best early chance as Dan Crowley hit the crossbar, and they took the lead in the 27th minute when Orsi bundled in after

Fleetwood failed to clear Crowley’s cross.

Fleetwood equalised late in the first half, as Virtue poked home Shaun Rooney’s cross.

The Cod Army took the lead in the 49th minute when a short corner ended up at the feet of Bolton, who fired past Connal Trueman.

Fleetwood scored again just before the hour when a quick free-kick released Marsh, who charged forward to score.

Rooney’s cross then teed up Devonport to tap home a fourth Fleetwood goal, with Hogan’s fine volley from Laurence Maguire’s long pass a late Dons solation. con-MK Dons’ interim head coach Ben Gladwin reflected that his side reacted poorly to conceding an equaliser late in the first half.

He said: “I think it’s unfortunately the reality of where the group are currently at.

“The first 18 minutes were exactly how we intended with a lot of stuff we’d rehearsed and spoken about it. The intensity and intent to hurt the opposition were there, and then in the last 15 minutes of the first half, I could feel it coming.

“People concede goals up and down the country at bad times and we need to find a way to give the players a feeling that it’s part of the game and we can overcome that.”
