CREWE Alexandra manager Lee Bell is delighted that ‘true pro’ Mickey Demetriou has signed a new contract.
The skipper, who arrived on a free from Newport in 2023, has penned a fresh deal that runs until the summer of 2026 and includes an option for a further 12 months.
The 35-year-old defender has made 87 appearances and scored 11 goals.
“We’re extremely happy that we’ve been able to get the deal done,” said Bell. “People know there was interest in Mickey from another club in January but he didn’t kick up a fuss – he wants to be at this football club.
“Mickey is an unbelievable asset. He leads the younger players brilliantly and he’s a true professional.
“He’s well-liked by the fans. He absolutely loves defending and we’re extremely pleased to have him staying for at least another year.”
