BLOW: Lincoln’s Bailey Cadamarteri

Unlucky Lincoln City forward Bailey Cadamarteri is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury.

The 19-year-old is on loan from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

During his loan spell, he has scored five goals in 23 League One appearances for Lincoln, but is due to return to the Owls for further assessment after sustaining an injury.

A ten-minute appearance off the bench in a 4-1 win against Crawley Town earlier this month is all he has managed since he was first sidelined with a groin issue in mid-January.

Bad news

“When he had his groin injury before we knew there is a high recurrence rate with that,” Imps boss Michael Skubala told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

“He obviously came back for a little bit but he has felt it again, so we think that could be pretty bad news for him.

“We saw some good moments from him before he got injured and then unfortunately he has got injured (again) and that will be it for the season.”

Surgery

Elsehwhere in League One, Exeter City captain Pierce Sweeney has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he requires surgery on a long-standing hip problem.

The 30-year-old defender has not played since suffering a calf injury in December.

“He had a calf problem that he’s come back from,” said boss Gary Caldwell.

“He’s had a long-standing hip problem that’s going to need surgery.

“Next week or the week after he will get surgery on that and be back fit for pre-season.”
