Interim boss Alan Sheehan looks set to remain in charge at Swansea until the end of the season.

The 38-year-old took charge following the departure of Luke Williams last month and has taken seven points from a possible 15 to avert any realistic prospect of relegation from the Championship.

Those efforts have impressed new director of football Richard Montague and the pair held talks this week before Sheehan was formally offered terms to stay on until the end of the season.

Sheehan had previously played down talk of a short-term deal, arguing that the club needed to plan for the long term ahead of a crucial summer in the transfer market.

That stance has now softened, but it has been reported that Sheehan will only accept the job on the condition that he is allowed to add two new coaches to his backroom staff.

It is thought the Swans will then reassess their managerial situation in May, with an external appointment not ruled out.

Swansea have also appointed a new chief executive in the shape of Tom Gorringe.

The 35-year-old – who previously worked in a similar role at Bristol Rovers – was initially appointed as chief operating officer a month ago but has now been promoted as part of a wide-ranging restructure at the Welsh side.

“I’m under no illusions that there is a lot to do, but I am excited to take on this role,” said Gorringe.

“Since joining, I have been impressed with the staff and the vast potential at the club as well as the ambition of the ownership group.

“We have everything that we need here to be successful.”

Impressed

Owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen added: “We met Tom in the winter of 2024, and we were immediately impressed speaking with him.

“We had a thought provoking and lively dialogue about Swansea City and the long-term direction we want to go as a club.

“Over the course of multiple conversations and in person meetings, it became clear that our visions aligned, and that Tom’s experience as a seasoned operator at past football clubs would be of significant value to us moving forward.

“We have been impressed with Tom’s work since joining the club as COO and the positive impact he has already made inside the building.

“Tom is tasked with restructuring the club to ensure we are operating efficiently and to optimal standards, and we are confident he will do just that.”
