Andy Crosby has vowed to do everything in his power to keep Tranmere Rovers in the EFL after it was confirmed he would remain as interim manager until the end of the season.

Crosby took over when Nigel Adkins left by mutual consent last month.

Since taking over, he has led the Rovers to five points from his first three games at the helm.

Those points ensured Tranmere went into the weekend with a four-point advantage over the bottom two.

Privilege

“I’d like to thank the chairman (Mark Palios) for giving me this opportunity,” said the 52-year-old former Port Vale boss ahead of yesterday’s match at high-flying Bradford.

“It is a privilege to be interim manager of Tranmere Rovers and I will be doing everything I can to help the club move towards safety.

“The staff have been incredibly supportive since I have been in the role and I thank them for that.

“The players have bought into what we’ve been doing on the training pitch and in the analysis room and we’ve seen that pay off with five points from the last three games.

“We will keep striving to improve every day.

“I’d also like to thank the Tranmere fans who have been incredibly supportive over the last week and a half.

“Your support really can make a difference over the final ten games of the season.”

Cowley heaps praise on his Colchester side

Colchester United boss Danny Cowley has praised all those who have helped turn the club’s fortunes around.

The U’s 2-1 win over Port Vale in midweek stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games and took them to within one point of the League Two play-off places with 10 games remaining.

At the same stage last season the U’s were in a relegation scrap.

“Lots of people have worked really, really hard to get on the right side of those small margins so I’m proud of everyone really, all the staff, the academy, the players – I think everybody is pulling in the right direction,” Cowley told BBC Sport.

“When you get people working hard and you get people pulling in the right direction then special things can happen.”

Now the former Lincoln City, Huddersfield Town and Portsmouth boss wants the U’s to keep working towards the play-offs.

“There will still be people on my social media, Colchester United fans, who will be fearing the worst, because we haven’t quite got them confident yet.

“But they are definitely more optimistic than they were and we just have to stay really humble, stay really focused and keep pushing,” added the 46-year-old.
